E.B photo series project statement

The project shows model’s face profile being blocked by bottle. Covering up their facial features, which is the most identifiable aspect in person. The series uses the hand holding the bottle to show one’s personality through the texture selected. The project communicates the idea showing one’s character, not through construction of the face rather a specific texture shown. Each model has their own individual texture, just as everyone has a unique face. The experimentation comes from the idea itself; how could I take a portrait of someone without anyone being able to read them. The idea of different objects came into play from fruits and foods to books and cleaning supplies. The bottle was the final decision, as the bottle has a liquid inside which is used to block the facial features and, the glass the bottle is made of is warped. Showing an illusion of what one sees if they look through the bottle. Also, the choice of the floating hand with texture on it instead of including the whole arm, was a decision made to incorporate more focus on space between the hand and far side of the face. I believe that the whole arm with texture on it would distract the view and keep them focused right side of the photograph, also the idea of relating the character to that texture would be lost. Which leads to the next part of experimental part, which was the editing, as I try to stage my photographs and not fully edit them by adding effects to make post-production simply on fine tuning rather than creating.
