The Figures
The piece is a compilation of long exposures used to create a narrative of being lost. The piece is my first attempt of animating my photography and tell a story. The motivation around this piece was to try incorporating dark sides of dreaming, where you wake up somewhere unfamiliar and shadowy figures move. The piece starts off with the multi-figural photo, that leads into a constantly moving eye appearing on screen used to transition between thoughts and the photos. The video is used to create a since of uneasiness, as the music behind adds to the effect. During the different stages of the song, when the song picks up it’s used to transition into the next photo as it adds to the stress when viewing the photo. The text around the screen is used to get the viewer to look around the photo, as the view mimics the video clip of the eye. The eye is to show the viewer that there not alone in this new space, as it’s them and the eye which is telling you thoughts about how uncomfortable they are and not knowing where they are. The text from the screen is to help guide the view to a sense of unnerving stress, as you’re in an unknown space with an unknown entity Infront of you. The photos are edited in a way where there is dream like element, nothing is to clear, and nothing seems to have a texture lights stand still, and colors line the background.
